Family Background:

Sravanthi’s parents were married in 2005. Her father worked as driver helper in truck, and her mother worked in the fields for a daily wage. They lived in a thatched roof house. Sravanthi was born in 1998. Her father was an alcoholic, and was hospitalized for kidney failure. When they told his wife that they could not help him, she committed suicide by jumping into an open well. Her father died 4 days leter. A neighbor brought Sravanthi to HOINA and asked us to care for her.

Mathangi Iswarya (T-211)

Admitted to HOINA February 22, 2008

Family Background: Iswarya’s father is an alcoholic. Her mother struggled to care for Iswarya and her twin sister and brother, but her wages as a domestic servant were not enough to support the family of five. Iswarya and her twin sister were admitted to HOINA’s care in 2008.

Iswarya has black eyes and is an active girl with a lovely smile.

In an effort to promote HOINA and educate people on the work we do, we are selling batik note cards created by boys at HOINA. The front features an original batik, and the back provides a short description on HOINA and the work we do.
