Sponsor a Child

HOINA welcomes sponsorships of individual children. For only $30 per month (about a dollar a day), your family can sponsor one of these beautiful children and assist with their food, medical care, and schooling. To sponsor a child, complete the contribution form with the name of the child you wish to sponsor. Or, to have your preauthorized gift automatically deducted from your checking or savings account each month, print and mail HOINA's secure direct deposit form.

All donations to HOINA are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

LANKA AJAY KUMAR (OK 245)

The parents of Ajay Kumar, Mr. Patrudu and Ms. Lakshmi, were married in 2001. Mr. Patrudu worked in the fields for a daily wage. After two years of marriage, Ajay Kumar was born. Another child was born 2 years later. In June, 2006, the mother was cooking and the kerosene stove fell on her and caught fire. She died three days later. The grandfather tried to take care of the boys, but then approached HOINA seeking admission for them.

Ajay Kumar is in lower kindergarten at a local English medium school. He says his favorite game is Cricket. When he is grown Ajay Kumar wants to become a policeman. He is described by HOINA staff as active and smart, with a smiling face.

LANKA SARATH KUMAR (OK 241)

The parents of Sarath Kumar, Mr. Srinivasa Rao and Ms. Lalitha, were married in 1997. At that time Mr. Rao was working as a lorry/truck driver. Unfortunately, he was addicted to alcohol. Two children were born to this marriage, Sarath Kumar and a sister, who is older. The father died in October, 2005 at age 38. After the death of her husband, the mother left her children with her mother-in-law and went to her parent's home. She died there in July 2006 of Tuberculosis. The grandmother was a widow, so sought admission for both children to our HOINA homes.

Sarath Kumar is in Lower Kindergarten in an English medium. He enjoys Cricket and his favorite animal is the elephant. He wishes to become a driver then he is grown. The HOINA staff describes him as calm, with good manners and a smiling face.

D. DEVA PRIYA (T 195)

The parents of Deva Priya were married in 1999. They had two children, Sathiya and Deva. The father worked for a tourist company as a cook, but this was a temporary job since he was only called to work when there were tourists. Unfortunately, he had ongoing chest pain for over three years. He died in March, 2005. The mother was unable to get a good job, since she had little education. She was unable to provide her children with food, clothing and education. Through one of the Indian board members, she sought admission for her daughters to the HOINA girls' home.

TDeva Priya is studying 4th standard in St. Claret Matriculation School. She is described by the HOINA staff as friendly and calm. Her special interest is Karate and she likes to play hide-and-seek. In the future she wishes to become an advocate (lawyer).

SHIFANA BEGUM (T-202)

Shifana Begum's parents were married in 2000, and had a happy marriage. They had two children. Unfortunately in April, 2006, the father had head injuries and was unable to receive proper care due to the family's financial circumstances. When he died, Shifana's mother could not provide for the family. Shifana's aunt knew about HOINA, and asked Mom to admit her niece.

Shifana loves to dance. She is described as a smiling, playful girl, who enjoys play ball. He favorite color is blue.

BODALA KARTHIK (K244)

The parents of Bodala Karthik, Mr. Pydiraju and Ms. Krishnaveni, were married in 1996. Mr. Pydiraju was doing labor work for a daily wage. A boy was born in 1998. Three years later Karthik and his twin, Kamesh, were born. Shortly after that Mr. Pydiraju was diagnosed with AIDS and died within months. Since the mother also has AIDS, she asked that the twins be admitted to HOINA. She has no financial support and lives with her parents.

Bodala Karthik is in Lower Kindergarten at a local English medium school. His favorite game is soccer and he wishes to be a policeman when he is grown. He is described by the HOINA staff as calm, active and smart./p>

BODALA KAMESH (K243)

The parents of Kamesh, Mr. Pydiraju and Ms. Krishnaveni, were married in 1996. Mr. Pydiraju was doing labor work for a daily wage. A boy was born in 1998. Three years later Kamesh and his twin, Karthik, were born. Shortly after that Mr. Pydiraju was diagnosed with AIDS and died within months. Since the mother also has AIDS, she asked that the twins be admitted to HOINA. She has no financial support and lives with her parents.

BEHARA JAGADISH (OK 240)

Jagadish's parents got married in 1997. Ms. Lakshmi did not realize at the time they were married that Mr. Raju was addicted to alcohol. Jagadish was born on April 9, 1998. Due to the ongoing problems of her husband, Jagadish's mother sought admission for her son.

This school year Jagadish is in standard 1 at a local school. He likes to play hockey and says his favorite animal is the elephant. Jagadish wishes to become policeman when he is grown. The staff at the Boys' home describes him as "smart" with a smiling face.

M. SRAVYA SREE (T-196)

When Sravya's parents were married in 2001, he was working as a coolie for a private firm. Their first child was born in December, 2002, and they later had a second daughter. Unfortunately, Sravya was disabled. The parents sought treatment in a government hospital, but got little lasting help. After the birth of another child, the family became overwhelmed with Sravya's needs. One of the Indian trustees took a special interest in the family, and asked that Sravya be admitted to HOINA.

Dear Sravya has brown eyes, and short black hair. She loves the attention of the older girls and her caregivers!

Agnes Gracilin, Age: 8 (T187)

Agnes was born August 22, 1998. Her father died from kidney failure when Agnes was 18-months-old. Her mother works in a hostel but cannot provide food, education, and clothing for Agnes. She approached HOINA and asked us to admit Agnes.

Agnes is studying 4th Standard at Grace Park Convent School, Thiruninravur. Her favorite color is red. She likes lions, singing, and football. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

S. J. Nivedha, Age: 9 (T186)

Nivedha was born October 20, 1997. Her father died when she was young. Her mother works in a small shop but could not provide food, education, and clothing for her two children. She went to her friends, who referred her to HOINA.

Nivedha is studying 4th Standard at Grace Park Convent School, Thiruninravur. Her favorite color is red. She likes lions and Chess-mate. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

K. Sai Sampath, Age: 9 (K218)

Sai Sampath was born July 26, 1997. His father died in September 2004 from a heart attack. He left his family in very bad financial condition. Sai Sampath's mother tried to care for him but she needed to work two jobs to pay off the family's debts and could not provide for him. She approached HOINA and asked HOINA to take Sai Sampath.

Sai Sampath is studying 4th Standard at the Government Primary School. His favorite color is pink. He likes elephants and cricket. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up.

K. Gayathri, Age: 10 (T188)

Gayathri was born July 13, 1996. Her father died in 1999 from stomach problems. Her mother became sick after her father's death and died the same year. Gayathri's grandmother tried to care for her but could not provide food, education, and clothing for Gayathri. She approached HOINA to admit her.

Gayathri is studying 6th Standard at Dasar's High School. Her favorite color is red. She likes lions, listening to music, and hide and seek. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

Karri Tata Rao, Age 12 (K217)

Karri Tata Rao was born April 15, 1995. His father died in October 1999 due to jaundice. His mother died in July 1999 from tuberculosis. His grandmother tried to care for him, but because of her age she cannot work enough to provide for him. She approached HOINA, and asked HOINA to take Tata Rao.

Tata Rao is studying 6th standard at the Government Primary School in Noupada. His favorite colors are red and green. He likes lions and cricket. He wants to be a teacher when he grows up.

Barnikani Ernaidu, Age: 9 (K220)

Barnikani Ernaidu was born October 10, 1997. His father was a shepherd. His mother died in childbirth. His father was so distraught after the death of his wife and second child he could not care for Ernaidu. Ernaidu's grandmother approached HOINA and asked us to take Ernaidu so he would be taken care of.

Ernaidu is studying at the Government Primary School in Kantakapalli. His favorite color is yellow. He likes bears and cricket. He wants to be a policeman when he grows up.

Karanam Syam Kumar, Age: 7 (K223)

Karanam Syam Kumar was born October 4, 2000. His father is an alcoholic and was abusive to his mother, so his mother left her husband. Unable to support her two children and herself, she tried to commit suicide. Her employer is trying to help her train for a better job, and is caring for her daughter, but could not take care of Syam Kumar, and approached HOINA to see if we could help. We admitted Syam Kumar March 14, 2006.

Syam Kumar is almost 7 years old. His favorite colors are white and red. He likes tigers and swings. He wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
